Liverpool have recently had Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes on their radar, but their primary focus is now on signing Southampton wonderkid Romeo Lavia in that position.
According to Fabrizio Romano’s latest exclusive column for CaughtOffside, the Reds might not have much luck signing Nunes now anyway, with Wolves already losing key midfield duo Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho this summer.
After all three of James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita left on free transfers at the end of last season, Liverpool has been busy making changes in midfield this summer, bringing in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai early in the window.
Nunes could have been another decent option for LFC to bring in, but it now appears that Lavia is their priority, so Wolves fans can probably rest easy knowing that they aren’t in danger of losing another important player.
Matheus Nunes Nunes has been linked with a number of high-profile moves in recent months, but Wolves have already lost Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves in the midfield this summer, so there is no news about him at the moment. “The Wolves will do everything they can to keep him,” Romano said.
“He was on Liverpool’s radar in January, but their attention is now on Romeo Lavia.”
