Alexis MacAllister breaks his silence on Liverpool and joins the ‘next club’

Liverpool target Alexis MacAllister has been asked about Jurgen Klopp’s interest as the summer transfer deadline approaches.

Mac Allister has emerged as Jurgen Klopp’s main target as he looks to reshape his midfield this summer, after the Reds failed to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in seven years.

While Liverpool has remained tight-lipped about any sign of a deal being agreed, reports in Argentina over the last week have claimed the 24-year-old is close to completing a move for around £60 million.

Mac Allister broke down in tears after Brighton’s final Premier League game against Aston Villa last Sunday, having helped the Seagulls qualify for Europe for the first time in their history.

And the Argentina World Cup winner has now been asked directly about Liverpool’s strong interest and the opportunity to work with Klopp.

“I am very calm because I also have the possibility of being in a club like Brighton that accompanied me at all times and in which I really enjoy being,” he said to Infobae, a Miami-based Argentine news outlet.

“If I do not have to leave the club, I will remain very happy there, but I am aware that there are options (to move), and if a good offer for the club and for me arrives, we will evaluate it.”

“I have no doubts that (the Premier League) is the best league to play in, which is why I am aware that I want my next club to be in the Premier League.” I have a lot of fun being there.”

“The goal is to continue improving as a person, as a player, and to win more titles,” Mac Allister added. I believe this is my short-term goal, and it will always be, because I will always be the same person, wanting to be a little better than the day before, so I put a lot of emphasis on it.

“I’m not going to complain; I’m 24 years old, I’m a world champion, I play in one of the best leagues in the world, and I feel like my career is progressing, but I still have my feet on the ground and I want to improve every day, becoming a better person and player.” We’ll have to wait and see what the future holds.”

Liverpool are interested in a number of midfielders as part of their summer engine room overhaul. They are still interested in Mason Mount, but Manchester United has beaten them to the Chelsea midfielder. According to reports in France this week, the Reds are interested in Nice’s Khephren Thuram.

On June 14, Premier League clubs will be able to make domestic transfers.
