The team’s manager, Xavi Hernandez, requested the addition of two more midfielders and a right back earlier this week, according to Barcelona president Joan Laporta, in order to make the squad competitive in Europe.

Xavi wants to sign a pivot midfielder and another creative player with a good final pass to help Pedri by lessening the load on the Blaugrana, who have already added Ilkay Gundogan to their roster.

For several transfer windows, Bernardo Silva, a stalwart for Manchester City, has been the La Liga champions’ ideal addition.

Moreover, Mundo Deportivo is now claiming that Barça will pursue the signing of the Portuguese international during the current transfer window, despite the fact that it had been thought that doing so would be challenging due to financial limitations.

Silva, on the other hand, is rumoured to be “crazy” about a potential transfer to Barcelona, and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is willing to approve a departure if the player requests it.

Additionally, the former AS Monaco star may decide to request a transfer this summer after winning the UEFA Champions League the previous year.

According to the report, Xavi is adamant about signing the 28-year-old, whose market value is €80 million and the actual transaction could cost even more.

And even though Barcelona employees are aware that a transfer will be challenging, they are willing to try to comply with the manager’s request.

Although convincing Manchester City to carry out such an operation would be challenging, a loan agreement with a purchase option could be investigated. However, Barça and Silva’s agent Jorge Mendes get along well, so they could use that to try and engineer a transfer.

Financial Fair Play would also be a significant issue, but there have recently been rumours that La Liga president Javier Tebas is willing to make some concessions in order to aid the Spanish clubs, which might enable Barça to add more players.

But Barcelona is aware that they need to move quickly if they want to sign Silva because Manchester City will only let him go if they have enough time to find a replacement.

The 28-year-old’s contract at the Etihad runs through the summer of 2025, and PSG and clubs in Saudi Arabia are both showing serious interest in signing him. But Silva hasn’t moved yet because he’s waiting to see if Barcelona will actually be a viable option.
