Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is said to be willing to accept Bobby Firmino’s requirements in order to sign the forward on a free transfer once he leaves Liverpool.
After eight years on Merseyside, the 31-year-old’s contract at Anfield expired, and the 14-time European champions appear eager to bring him to the Bernabeu.
According to Defensa Central, the Brazilian has requested a three-year contract with the LaLiga giants and an annual salary of €5 million (£4.3 million), with the 76-year-old willing to meet those expectations.
According to Capology data, Firmino is willing to take a significant pay drop with his next move, since he was earning an estimated £9.36 million per year at Liverpool.
Even though he is towards the end of his career, the fact that he seemed to appreciate such a significant wage cut suggests that he was eager to leave Anfield, where he has been playing since 2015.
That a team of Real Madrid’s stature and high standards is willing to accept his request right immediately suggests that the 31-year-old still has a lot to give at the highest level of club football.
With that in mind, it’s a shame that Firmino is leaving Liverpool, however he’d acknowledged in March that he’d be leaving this summer, so it’s not like he’s surprised Reds fans.
Also, after scoring 111 goals in 362 appearances for us (Transfermarkt), he’d earned the right to leave on his own terms, having won the hearts of staff, spectators, and teammates alike during his eight years on Merseyside.
If his possible move to the Bernabeu goes through, Real Madrid will be extremely fortunate to have such a fantastic footballer, and their eagerness to get him in the door implies that they recognise this.
