It has been reported that Manchester United may now part ways with one first-team player in January. When the transfer window reopens, they intend to recover a significant transfer fee for this player.
Man Utd’s potential for development…
Erik ten Hag of Manchester United has undoubtedly had many difficulties this season, having to battle fire both on and off the pitch at Old Trafford. Outside of the action, Jadon Sancho and the Dutchman have been involved in a public altercation that has resulted in the England international being exiled since early September.
The Red Devils faced criticism earlier this year for how they handled events involving controversial loanee Mason Greenwood, while Brazilian winger Antony has also missed time with the first squad as a result of an off-field probe.
Out of their first 12 Premier League games, the Red Devils have suffered five losses. But seven wins, including four in their previous five games, have moved them up to sixth place in the divisional rankings, five points clear of fourth-place Tottenham Hotspur. However, there is still need for development if the Red Devils hope to make it to the 2023–2024 Champions League.
Needless to say, United is playing in the tournament this year, but to put it mildly, their performance thus far has been lacking. With one win and three losses, they are currently ranked last in Group A, which also includes Bayern Munich, Galatasaray, and Copenhagen.
The Red Devils’ next games—against Galatasaray, Newcastle United, and Chelsea—could prove to be crucial in determining their future trajectory under Ten Hag. On Sunday, they take on Everton on the road at Goodison Park.
With January approaching, the Dutch coach may be about to make one player change once the window opens in order to further hone his team.
Selling Jadon Sancho
Manchester United, who will also benefit from not having to pay Sancho’s £250,000 weekly salary, are reportedly prepared to accept a bid for the player in January in order to strengthen their budget for prospective additions.
Manchester United is reportedly hoping to get a sizable sum for his talents, and a loan agreement or permanent departure are both expected to happen in the new year. Along with numerous Saudi Pro League teams and his former team, Borussia Dortmund, the 23-year-old has reportedly attracted the attention of Serie A powerhouse Juventus.
Sancho Jadon and Maguire Harry
Sancho, who was once called a “brilliant footballer” by Manchester United manager Ten Hag earlier this year, has had difficulty establishing himself at Old Trafford. In 82 appearances across all competitions, he has scored 12 goals and provided six assists for the Premier League’s biggest clubs (Sancho statistics – Transfermarkt).
With him out of the Manchester United starting lineup for an extended period of time, it could be a good idea for both sides to end his stay there quickly in order to deflect criticism.
