Liverpool are interested in signing Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic this summer, according to the Italian website FC Inter News.

The Merseyside giants have performed below expectations this season, falling seven points short of fourth place in the Premier League.

They may not play in the Champions League next season, but manager Jurgen Klopp is expected to be supported with new signings to strengthen the squad.

According to FC Inter News, Klopp is looking for a new ‘director’ for his midfield, and Brozovic is one of the candidates, along with Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot.

According to the report, Brozovic recently lost his position to Hakan Calhanoglu and could leave this summer if Inter pay a large fee for his services.

Unexpected move
Brozovic has missed 17 Inter Milan games this season due to hamstring and calf injuries. This is a major red flag for Liverpool this summer.

Liverpool has had its fair share of injury issues in recent years. Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Thiago Alcantara have all missed numerous games this season.

Brozovic could be classified in the same way. He didn’t have a bad injury record until this season, but the Croatian will be 31 by the end of the year, making him a risky investment.

The Inter star is a technically strong midfielder with an impressive passing range, but Liverpool must aim higher than the £25 million star, who may be past his prime in the near future.

In comparison, a move for Rabiot appears to be a more logical choice. The Frenchman is currently at his best for Juventus and has been a creative presence recently.

Rabiot spoke about his desire to play in the English Premier League in December. When his contract expires in June, Liverpool should take advantage of this by signing him on a free transfer.

Klopp would ideally like to sign two midfielders in the upcoming transfer window. Signing Rabiot on a free transfer would allow the club to spend heavily on a star player like Jude Bellingham.
