Liverpool have a number of midfielders on their wanted list this summer, but it appears that Sofyan Amrabat will not be joining them.
Amrabat has become a wanted man following his performances in the World Cup and for Fiorentina this season. The Moroccan has a solid reputation and is wanted by major clubs such as Liverpool and Manchester United.
While Liverpool do require a replacement for Fabinho, The Mail’s latest transfer newsletter claims that the Reds have not yet increased their interest in Amrabat.
With that, it’s claimed that Manchester United can now complete a £25 million deal for the Moroccan star.
Liverpool has been left in a state of shock this summer, with Saudi money luring a number of players away. Fabinho is almost certain to move to the Middle East as part of a £40 million deal, while Jordan Henderson could still leave.
Despite the signings of Dom Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister, the Reds now require more midfielders.
Liverpool are thought to be interested in Romeo Lavia and Ryan Gravenberch. However, it appears that Amrabat will not be a player they pursue at this time.
Amrabat would be perfect for Liverpool.
While Mac Allister and Szoboszlai have been brought in to provide attacking and creative sparks, the addition of Sofyan Amrabat would provide Liverpool with a midfield destroyer.
It does seem odd that they haven’t pursued their interest. However, he has yet to be picked up by anyone, raising the question of whether there is an underlying issue.
Amrabat appears to be a quality midfielder who is more than capable of performing in the Premier League. He also appears to be a good fit for Liverpool.
It will be interesting to see how he performs if he does join United. And if he performs well, Reds fans will be left wondering why they didn’t sign him sooner.
