Manchester United have reportedly taken an ‘active interest’ in signing Tottenham Hotspurs’ Harry Kane in the summer as they look to bolster their forward line. According to Football Insider, Spurs have already initiated talks with their captain over a new contract. However, United are keeping a close eye on the situation, as Kane’s current deal is set to expire in 2024, meaning that, if he does not leave this summer, Tottenham could risk losing him on a free transfer.
The Red Devils are in need of a star striker to take their next step forward, as Anthony Martial is the only other centre forward at the club and has been plagued by injuries this season. Kane would be an ideal player to add to the ranks, having already scored twenty goals this season, as well as providing world class link up play and playmaking ability.
Tottenham are currently in the early stages of talks, but Bayern Munich are also interested. Kane will have some tough decisions to make in the coming months, and United will be hoping to be at the front of the queue. However, should Kane have any interest in winning a shred of silverware in his career, he may find that he must move on. His presence has dragged a poor side to fourth place at this stage of the season, and it is uncertain what heights Manchester United and Kane could reach together.
