Manchester United defeated Chelsea 4-1 at Old Trafford on Thursday night to secure their place in the Champions League. Casemiro put the Red Devils ahead in the sixth minute, heading home from close range. Anthony Martial scored just before halftime, and Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford also scored to give the hosts all three points.

Manchester United went into the game against Chelsea knowing they only needed a point to finish in the top four.

And Casemiro put them ahead early on, rising to head home a pinpoint delivery from Christian Eriksen.

United were dealt a blow when Antony was forced to withdraw from the game, and the former Ajax star is now a doubt for next month’s FA Cup final.

But they doubled their lead just before halftime, with Martial scoring his ninth goal of the season, with Fernandes and Rashford also on target to secure the victory.

Express Sport looks at four things we learned from the Old Trafford clash, with Joao Felix’s impressive goal not enough to earn his side a point.

Manchester United transfers: Ten Hag wants another Pogba, which makes sense.

United have already found a replacement for Antony

When Manchester United signed Jadon Sancho in the summer of 2021, they intended to use him as a right winger.

Since then, the England international has filled a number of different roles for the club.

But, after impressing in that position against Chelsea, there’s still a chance he’ll be an option there.

Sancho assisted Martial’s goal and looked dangerous in a position he’d previously excelled in at Borussia Dortmund.

Antony is a doubt for the cup final, but there is still hope that another big-money signing can help the Red Devils stop Manchester City’s treble charge.

The Glazers sent a clear message.

As the end of the season approaches, so does the end of the United takeover saga.

Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are still awaiting the Glazers’ decision.

United fans once again demonstrated their support for the American family by singing chants and unfurling banners.

They are not the only supporters who are dissatisfied with their current owners.

There were a few chants directed at Todd Boehly from the Chelsea end, as the Blues have struggled since he bought the club from Roman Abramovich last year.
