Reports have indicated that Manchester United are actively pursuing Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane, as per Football Insider.
It has been widely suggested that the Red Devils are looking to bolster their attack in the upcoming summer transfer window, and Kane is a priority target.
The England captain is in the final 18 months of his contract with Spurs and has yet to sign a new deal, leaving his long-term future at the club uncertain.
Talks have already begun between the club and Kane’s representatives, but this has not deterred Man Utd from showing an ‘active interest’ in signing the 29-year-old.
However, they are set to face stiff competition from Bayern Munich in any potential deal.
It has been reported that Kane wants to stay in England to break the Premier League’s all-time goal-scoring record, which could give Manchester United an advantage over the German giants.
Furthermore, it has been suggested that the player is open to a move to Old Trafford. Liverpool and Manchester City have previously expressed interest in the Spurs record goalscorer, but are not in the market to reinforce their number nine position.
Arsenal and Chelsea are also unlikely destinations for Kane. Therefore, Manchester United appear to be the only possible Premier League destination for the striker if he were to leave White Hart Lane at the end of this season.
Spurs could look to cash in on their star man in the summer before his price decreases, but they are likely to demand a fee of around £85m if they are forced to sell.
Manchester United’s transfer budget could be increased if they are acquired by a wealthy owner before the end of this season, which could help them to secure Kane’s signature.
