Omar Rekik, an Arsenal youngster, could be set for another loan spell after being left out of Mikel Arteta’s pre-season camp.
Last season, Rekik spent time with Championship strugglers Wigan Athletic before returning to The Emirates.
The 21-year-old has returned to Arsenal since that time, and despite being highly rated by some at London Colney, he appears to have lost his way a little.
According to AfricaFoot, Rekik is on his way out of Arsenal once more. It follows Mikel Arteta’s decision not to include Rekik in his pre-season training squad.
According to reports, Rekik is in talks with a Championship club, and a Spanish club is also interested.
From Rekik’s perspective, there will be disappointment. Mikel Arteta’s pre-season squad includes a number of young players, including Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelley.
To re-enter the Arsenal manager’s thoughts, Rekik will need to have a strong season on loan.
As of now, there is no mention of the two clubs interested in signing Rekik.
A big year is on the way.
It’s not uncommon for a young player to experience a few setbacks as they progress, but Rekik appears to be in need of a big year right now.
The 21-year-old needs to be playing football on a regular basis and doing so well.
Rekik will soon realise that time is running out on him, and he may need to consider permanently leaving.
This is a pivotal year for everyone associated with Arsenal. Rekik is no different, albeit for different reasons than many others in this current squad.
