As Chelsea looks for a long-term replacement for Graham Potter, Julian Nagelsmann is ‘ahead of Luis Enrique’ in their minds.
According to Sky Germany, even though Chelsea met with Enrique at the beginning of this month, the German coach is at the top of Chelsea’s wish list.
Following Potter’s sacking by the Blues last month, they are currently looking for their next permanent manager.
Although Frank Lampard has been given temporary leadership until the end of the current campaign, it is unlikely that he will continue in that capacity after that.
Enrique and Nagelsmann, who are both free agents, have both been interviewed for the position; it appears that the intention is to hire a more well-known individual to fill the position.
According to Sky Germany’s information on the subject, Nagelsmann met with Chelsea’s Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart last Thursday in London to discuss his plans for the team.
Those negotiations went very well, in fact the German coach is ‘ahead of the Spaniard Luis Enrique’ in the internal Blues hierarchy ranking.
The 52-year-old was in London at the beginning of this month to present his ideas, and they had already spoken to him about the position.
Although Mauricio Pochettino, Luciano Spalletti, and Ruben Amorim are also candidates for the job and a decision is not imminent, Nagelsmann currently seems to have made a stronger impression.
