Billy Koumetio and Rhys Williams’ fates have been decided by Liverpool, who want to give the defenders more playing experience so they can grow.

The Liverpool Echo reports that the Merseyside club called up Koumetio from his loan with USL Dunkerque in France because the Premier League team was unhappy with how many minutes the centre back was playing.

Mourinho’s tenure at Roma

Despite signing a season-long contract with the Ligue 2 team in the summer, the Frenchman has failed to establish a consistent presence, making just nine starts in the first half of the season. The 21-year-old, who is currently back on Merseyside as the sixth Liverpool player to be recalled recently, did not make the squad for their past two games either.

With Koumetio, Liverpool may decide to send the defender out on loan once more or use him for the balance of the season to play for the Reds’ under-21 team.

Koumetio is back in Liverpool.

Furthermore, Rhys Williams’ future has been decided by Liverpool; he will now spend the remainder of the season on loan at Port Vale, according to The Athletic.

The 22-year-old centre back was recently called back to Aberdeen after a fruitless stint in which he did not play in any league games for the Scottish Premiership team.

As it becomes apparent that the team may need to consider who they are loaning players out to in light of all the recent events, the Reds hope the defender will get more playing time with the League One team.
