All eyes will be on Liverpool’s transfer dealings this summer, but before the window opens, another key player will leave the club, and the face of our transfer policy will change once more.

‘Liverpool director of loan management David Woodfine to leave this summer,’ according to David Ornstein. Following the departures of Edwards, Ward, and Graham from the same close-knit group. Woodfine is highly regarded and has decided to seek a new challenge after 9 years at #LFC’.

This is a significant change, as the report goes on to say that David Woodfine was not only integral in the club’s loan department, but also played an important role in the negotiations that saw Luis Diaz join the club.

With our loan system having been quite successful in the past, ensuring that our players not only join the right club but also receive the appropriate amount of game time to aid their development – this will be something to keep an eye on in the future.

We appear to be happy to promote from within for this role, but with no replacement for Julian Ward’s job secured and the other listed departures in the recent past – we’ve seen a large turnover of staff in a short period of time.

Let’s hope this is just a desire for professional change and not a sign of discontent within the club’s transfer hierarchy ahead of what will undoubtedly be a crucial summer for the Reds.
