Dominic Solanke of Bournemouth has recently been connected to Arsenal.

As an alternative to Ivan Toney, the Daily Star has revealed that the Gunners are considering a possible trade for Solanke.

According to the article, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will personally “push for Solanke’s arrival if an agreement for Toney can’t be reached.”

The Cherries star has already garnered the respect of Arsenal veteran Paul Merson, who also hinted that clubs may be beginning to show an interest in him.

In a post on Sportskeeda, the legendary Gunners player noted that Solanke is playing well and “banging in goals for fun.”

And clubs further up the pyramid might start circling if he keeps doing that, Merson said.

He declared, “Dominic Solanke has been in great form.” And some of the “bigger” teams might become interested if he keeps scoring goals just for pleasure.

But Arsenal isn’t the only team chasing Solanke. According to a recent story in The Mirror, West Ham is prepared to make another bid for the 26-year-old.

This comes after reports surfaced that the Hammers’ attempt to sign the striker for £40 million in the summer was unsuccessful.

Dominic Solanke, an Arsenal target, possesses “a lot of different skills.”

Given that Solanke is a capable player who is currently playing well, Arsenal should at the very least keep an eye on him. They might find it difficult to complete such a transaction in January, though.

Only in September did he sign a new deal that will last until the summer of 2027. Right now, the player doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to go, and the Cherries have a very strong hand.

In November, AFCB president Andoni Iraola told the Bournemouth Echo, “Obviously, I think he’s really happy here.”

He has demonstrated that as well by just extending his contract. That’s why I believe it’s quite good for us.

I have felt a really strong connection with him from the moment I arrived. He is quite skilled in many areas.

“He is very complete to be a number nine and can adjust to different ways of playing.”

It is challenging to sign a top No. 9 in the summer, much less during the January transfer window when teams are afraid of losing their primary goal sources in the middle of the season.

Arsenal’s chances of succeeding in January appear slim, and other choices will surely present themselves in the summer.
