However, according to recent reports from Spain, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez does not currently have any plans to allow the center-back to leave. Instead, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is preparing a shocking move for Antonio Rudiger.

Man Utd is acquiring a defender?
Although the £50 million price tag might deter some would-be suitors, Man United has now made it clear that they would be willing to let Harry Maguire leave this summer. They are currently vetting a number of new center-back candidates.

In a recent update on United’s pursuit of AS Monaco defender Axel Disasi, Fabrizio Romano claimed that Ten Hag personally “approved” a move for the Frenchman after weeks of negotiations on the player’s side.

Dean Jones, a transfer insider, says the Red Devils are still considering “a couple of other options” for the 25-year-old but that they aren’t “too worried” about missing out on Kim Min-jae. As of yet, no firm move has been made for the player.

A possible example of such a player is Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo, according to Romano, who claims Man United “sent their scouts” to watch the defender on numerous occasions, but that “nothing concrete” has yet to be agreed upon in terms of negotiations.

Rudiger could be lured back to the Premier League if he is given guaranteed minutes in his preferred center-back position, according to reports from Spain that United and Ten Hag in particular are now planning a surprise transfer swoop for him.

The Red Devils are reportedly preparing a £51 million offer for the German, whom they intend to entice with a raise in salary. Ten Hag wants to replace Lisandro Martinez with a world-class center-back, but Real Madrid is reportedly not ready to allow his transfer at this time.

Despite potential interest from the player’s side, club president Perez does not appear to be willing to sell the 30-year-old for any amount, making a transfer to Old Trafford appear unlikely at this time.

Rudiger is joining Man United, right?
As the defender only joined Real Madrid on a free transfer from Chelsea last summer, there is no immediate need for Real Madrid to sell him. He is currently under contract with the club until June 2026, so it is unlikely that he will leave anytime soon.

The German international has already proven himself in the Premier League, earning an average Sofascore match rating of 7.21 in the top division during the 2020–21 season, second only to Chelsea’s team. This news will likely disappoint United supporters.

In La Liga last season, the former Chelsea player averaged 2.1 clearances per game, the second-highest total in the team, solidifying his place as a regular in the starting XI. Since joining Madrid, the player has continued to impress.

Leon Legge, a professional football player, called Rudiger a “monster” for his achievements. If Real Madrid decides to relax their stance at a later point in the transfer window, Rudiger could be a fantastic addition to Manchester United.
