Hailed by Iniesta and Zidane, Man United could sign ‘immense’ Antony upgrade for £43m

It’s probably safe to assume that a teenager with the endorsements of Andres Iniesta and Zinedine Zidane ringing in his ears has genuine potential.

Takefusa Kubo is a winger who is now being connected to Manchester United, who is anticipated to part ways with Jadon Sancho in January. He is undoubtedly close to realising that “potential” in Spain.

The Sun claims that Manchester United has already conducted seven scouting visits for the Japan international this season.

Real Sociedad, a player worth half of what United paid to buy Antony from Ajax and with arguably twice the skill, is set to yield to a price of £43 million, which is expected to be enough to win over the league’s Player of the Month for November, Antony.

Unai Emery compared Kubo to David Silva when they were both at Villarreal. Additionally, Kubo is beginning to produce performances that are reminiscent of Silva’s at Valencia after sharing a dressing room with the Man City icon at Sociedad last season.

United of Manchester looks at Takefusa Kubo

After Kubo tore Real Madrid limb from limb at the beginning of the season, Terry Gibson, the former United attacker, told El Tel and Jon’s La Liga Weekly podcast, “He was superb.”

“Take Kubo, in my opinion, has performed at a level comparable to Jude Bellingham in every game he’s played this year.”

A little appreciation. But in Kubo’s perspective, these positive evaluations are not unprecedented.

Back in 2019, when Kubo was still a teenager and smashing all kinds of records in La Masia, Barcelona icon Andres Iniesta told AS, “We’re talking about a player with immense talent and a great future ahead of him.” However, Barca had to let him go due to a transfer prohibition.

“He is currently one of the most talented players in the world.”

After returning to Spain in 2019 to play for Real Madrid, Barcelona’s fiercest rival, Kubo attracted Zinedine Zidane’s attention while on a brilliant loan at Mallorca.

Zidane, the manager of Real Madrid, stated, “I think he’s having a good season” (One Football). “For now and the future, he is a very interesting player.”

Continuing the legacy of Martin Odegaard

Even at just 22, Kubo is already making waves in San Sebastian, cutting in from the right with deadly impact, much like Martin Odegaard, another former Madrid starlet who flourished at Sociedad.

While Kubo has already surpassed double figures in “goal contributions,” Antony has yet to score a goal or offer assistance in 2023–2024.

Erik ten Hag continues to support Antony in the interim. But, given that the Brazilian is likely flattering himself in order to trick others and that Jadon Sancho is nearly certain to go, United will probably need to find a right-wing player once more when 2023 ends and 2024 begins.

Andres Iniesta, Zinedine Zidane, and Unai Emery will support Kubo upon his arrival at Old Trafford if that is the man United decides upon. Three men that nobody could ever claim to be poor character judges.
