Although they weren’t nearly as good as they were the previous season, Arsenal was one of the most interesting teams in Europe.
Although we are unable to pinpoint exactly what has changed for Arsenal this season, they do not possess the same competitive edge as they had the previous one.
The north London team’s offence isn’t as flowing, and Tim Sherwood singled out one player on Premier League Productions for being a little too critical.
Sherwood thinks that Jorginho is not helping Arsenal offensively, saying he constantly slows down play and attempts too many backward and sideward passes.
Jorge is overly pessimistic
Sherwood gave his assessment of the £12 million guy.
“In my opinion, Declan Rice was the best player on the pitch.” He’s the real deal. Jorginho slows down the game too much, tries to play too many sideways and backwards, and doesn’t see enough forward passes, in Sherwood’s opinion.
Absent Xhaka
It appears that Granit Xhaka is now absent from Arsenal, something we never imagined we’d say.
With his charging runs and late appearances in the penalty area, the Swiss midfielder had a lot going for him offensively the previous season. Unfortunately, Arsenal’s midfield lacks that this season.
Jorginho is a little too sluggish for that part, and Kai Havertz’s problems right now are too many to mention.
Arsenal’s inability to muster that midfield energy is hurting the club as a whole and their aggressive approach.
Mikel Arteta has to take swift action to address the fact that Arsenal’s offensive isn’t doing as well as it did during the previous campaign.
