Stan Collymore thinks David Raya would be more effective at the Emirates than Declan Rice if Arsenal were to make a move for him this summer.
The effort that the Gunners have done in this window thus far merits the highest commendation. They spent a British record amount of money to sign Rice from rival London club West Ham, Jurrien Timber from Ajax, and Kai Havertz from Chelsea.
However, Arsenal’s work is not yet over. According to reports, Mikel Arteta is interested in signing Raya from Brentford, and Collymore has given his opinion of the custodian on CaughtOffside.
David Raya, according to Stan Collymore, would make a bigger impact at Arsenal than Declan Rice.
The largest move in Europe to date is Declan Rice to Arsenal.
It truly feels like the most stunning signing the Gunners have made in a very, very long time after they broke their transfer record to get the Englishman.
Rice was spotted by Arsenal supporters during the preseason, but he is anticipated to experience the Emirates for the first time as a Gunner tomorrow when the North Londoners take on Monaco.
Everyone agrees that Rice will make a significant contribution to Arsenal, but Collymore thinks David Raya would be even better if Arteta were to sign him soon.
“I really like the idea of Arsenal signing David Raya from Brentford,” the analyst wrote. Despite my previous harsh criticism of the Gunners under Mikel Arteta, I genuinely approve of this choice.
Declan Rice will bring a lot to Arsenal after joining from West Ham earlier in the transfer season, but will he make them championship challengers by default? – Not in my opinion, no.
And although while I can’t guarantee it, I think the Brentford goalie will have a bigger overall impact than the midfielder worth £105 million.
Really unexpected is the fact that Arsenal is attempting to sign Raya.
Nobody really anticipated that the Gunners’ starting lineup for the upcoming season would change, especially given that the team has other priorities. The Gunners already have Aaron Ramsdale and Matt Turner.
Arsenal are reportedly the favourites to sign the Brentford player in the next days, although Arteta seemed very eager to sign him.
Although we still believe Rice will make a bigger impact at Arsenal this year, it wouldn’t surprise us in the least if Raya were to join and wind up taking Ramsdale’s place in a few months.
