After a photo of Kai Havertz in his new uniform was allegedly “leaked,” it appears that Havertz has been unofficially confirmed as an Arsenal player. Mikel Arteta, who is eager to strengthen his attack for the upcoming season, has recently been heavily linked with a move for the 24-year-old to the Emirates Stadium.
Football.london is aware that the Gunners might reveal Havertz’s signing as soon as this week. Arsenal made a revised offer worth £60 million, including £5 million in add-ons, after their initial offer was turned down by Chelsea, and Chelsea accepted it.
The German international is anticipated to sign with the north Londoners as their first summer signing, subject to a medical. Although it is unclear if Havertz has actually passed his fitness tests, the ‘leaked’ image on social media, if it is real, suggests he has and that he may be unveiled soon.
A photo purportedly showing the German posing in the Arsenal home jersey for the upcoming season was posted by Twitter user @MoArsenal86. Don’t ask me how I got the pic, the tweet was followed by a message that reads. Yes, it is genuinely real.
Unsurprisingly, the post has caused a social media frenzy among the majority of Arsenal supporters. Some, however, have questioned the picture and asserted that it might have been altered through photoshop.
It’s unlikely that the picture will be determined to be real or fake until Chelsea or Arsenal confirm the player’s move across London. But earlier this week, Arteta expressed his admiration for Havertz in an interview with the Spanish publication Marca, ahead of the German’s potential move to the United Arab Emirates.
The Arsenal manager said, “Talent has a price, and we are always interested in young players with experience. I must reiterate that I’m not referring to players from other teams, but Kai has already demonstrated a lot, including in the Champions League. He is only 24 years old and a gifted player with versatility.
Despite receiving the German’s endorsement for Arteta, Ray Parlour isn’t persuaded. The former Arsenal midfielder said, “You need an out and out goalscorer, if you’re Arsenal,” in a talkSPORT interview.
They have excellent backup play behind the striker, but they still require a goal scorer. I don’t believe that is the proper signing, in my opinion.
However, it is obvious that Mikel Arteta and Edu will be discussing things behind the scenes and considering where he can play. There could be a strategy for him.
“You have to give any player a chance who joins a club. Ivan Toney would have been the obvious choice for me, but it’s a shame because he obviously has that ban and they may not want to take a chance with that.
