“Let’s see if they will decide to bid” – Liverpool asked about another midfielder transfer last week

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool inquired about the potential transfer of Crystal Palace midfielder Cheick Doucoure last week, although it is unclear whether they would make a bid for him or not.

Romano highlighted that Doucoure is on Liverpool’s radar in his exclusive CaughtOffside column via the Daily Briefing, however it appears that nothing has changed since they inquired about him a week ago.

According to Romano, who also made a mention about Manchester City being interested in Eberechi Eze, one difficulty could also be that Palace are not at all eager to move their key players this summer.

Wilfried Zaha left the Eagles earlier this summer when his contract expired and he signed with Galatasaray, but the club has since done well to hold on to its best players, with Michael Olise recently being revealed as having signed a new contract to commit his future and stay at Selhurst Park.

To Liverpool, Cheick Doucoure?
Given how many midfielders Liverpool has lost this summer, Doucoure would be a great addition, but it is obvious that securing the deal won’t be simple.

Man City are “also very appreciative of Eze at Crystal Palace, but they have the impression that Palace don’t want to lose important players and that only a crazy bid will change the situation,” Romano stated.

“Cheick Doucoure and Liverpool are in a similar predicament; things have always been the same. Liverpool requested contract terms last week; it will be interesting to see if they decide to make a bid or not. However, Crystal Palace wants to keep Doucoure, and that could only happen in the event of a sizable offer.
