According to RMC Sport, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are in pole position to sign Eintracht Frankfurt forward Randal Kolo Muani this summer.
The Frenchman has had an outstanding season for the Bundesliga club, scoring 21 goals and providing 15 assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.
His form has piqued the interest of top European clubs, including Manchester United and Bayern Munich, according to RMC Sport.
According to the French outlet, United manager Erik ten Hag admires the striker and would like to bring him to Old Trafford ahead of next season.
Frankfurt is currently set on valuing the World Cup finalist at €100 million.
Muani joined Frankfurt on a free transfer last summer after his contract with Nantes expired.
Before the World Cup, he had a flurry of assists for the German club and was dubbed the ‘assist king’ by the Bundesliga’s official website.
The Frenchman has found his scoring boots since the restart. He has now played in 36 goals this season, with 25 of them coming in the league.
Ten Hag’s eagerness to sign him comes as no surprise. Muani is a quick striker who enjoys dropping into deeper attacking positions to link up with his teammates.
He has also excelled in the final third with his high pressing and hold-up play. He has won an astounding 6.8 ground and aerial duels per Bundesliga game this season.
Muani would be a significant upgrade over Anthony Martial heading into next season. United should be able to afford the asking price, but they may need to act quickly because Bayern is also interested.
The Glazers must make a final decision regarding the takeover. A further delay in the ongoing saga may jeopardise United’s chances of acquiring Muani this summer.
