Regardless of whether the Glazers sell the team, Manchester United is expected to have a busy summer transfer period.

United is on track to finish in the top four in Erik ten Hag’s first season in charge at Old Trafford after a promising start.

But if United wants to compete next season, Ten Hag will need to add to his squad in the summer as United lag behind title contenders Arsenal and Manchester City.

ESPN claims that because United spent more than £200 million on new signings last summer, they may have violated Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.

Ten Hag is rumored to have money available to him in the summer, but if the Dutchman is to receive a sizable war chest, a number of players will need to be moved on.

Defender Alex Telles, who is currently on loan at Spanish club Sevilla, is one such player who might be sold.

Since moving to United from Porto in a £15.4 million transfer in 2020, the 30-year-old left-back has fallen short of expectations.

After the Hannibal fight, Telles was loaned out.
Telles was initially loaned to Sevilla after falling behind Luke Shaw and summer acquisition Tyrell Malacia in the United pecking order.

In May of last year, just before Ten Hag was named manager of United, he got into a fight with teammate Hannibal Mejbri on the practice field, which led to his dismissal.

Despite not being in charge at the time, Ten Hag was made aware of the circumstance and authorized the loaning out of both Telles and Hannibal, with the younger player going to Birmingham City.

Telles, a member of the Sevilla team that drew 2-2 with United in the first leg of their Europa League quarterfinal matchup last week at Old Trafford, has made 29 appearances across all competitions since joining Sevilla.

In order to avoid having him leave for free the following year when his contract with United expires in 2024, the Premier League club is likely to sell him this summer.

According to Torcedores, Flamengo, a Brazilian club, is interested in Telles and has made preliminary contact with United regarding a deal for the Brazil international.

Jorge Sampaoli, a former manager of Argentina, was recently hired by Flamengo and is eager to make his mark on the team.

Additionally, Sevilla has the option to sign Telles to a permanent contract this summer, but The Mirror reports that the La Liga team is not anticipated to exercise this option.
