According to reports, Manchester United has already reached an agreement on their first transfer signing.
The Red Devils didn’t make a move until the beginning of July of last summer, trailing a number of rivals who had made deals in May and June. Tyrell Malacia was eventually added as Manchester United tried valiantly to finalise a deal for Frenkie de Jong.
With the club looking to make their decisions before the end of the season, this summer is shaping up to be different, and as of right now, one star appears set to join in the upcoming weeks.
Kim Min-jae of Napoli is close to having a contract “agreed” upon, according to Tuttomercatoweb(opens in new tab) in Italy. United is prepared to sign the South Korean “immediately” to strengthen their defence.
According to the report, the club will even pay a premium of €3 million to complete the transfer as soon as possible.
The Red Devils are interested in several members of Napoli’s Scudetto-winning team, not just Kim. Ten Hag, who has previously been said to be “obsessed” with the Nigerian(opens in new tab), has also shown interest in Victor Osimhen, though Football Insider(opens in new tab) recently claimed that the search for the striker is already over.
Kim, on the other hand, is much more affordable and could join the team for €50m, which is less than half of what Osimhen would cost.
In addition to signing Kim, the Manchester Evening News(opens in new tab) reports that United are “in pole position” to sign Monaco star Axel Disasi. According to reports, the club would pay about £40 million for his services.
According to Transfermarkt(opens in new tab), Kim is worth €50 million.
