According to an update from transfer expert Dean Jones, Manchester United may beat Liverpool to the signing of Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister this summer.
Are Mac Allister’s plans to depart this summer?
Currently, there is a lot of discussion surrounding the 24-year-old’s future because of how well he has performed for the Seagulls. With nine goals in the Premier League this season and World Cup glory with Argentina, he is having a fantastic campaign right now.
With his last-second penalty separating the two teams at the Amex Stadium on Thursday night, United got a close-up look at Mac Allister’s wrath. The midfielder has been linked to a move to the Red Devils as they scout potential middle-of-the-park additions for this summer.
But Liverpool is also a contender, and at this point, it appears that the Argentine may be playing at either Old Trafford or Anfield next season.

Could Mac Allister join Man United?
According to Jones, who was speaking to Give Me Sport, Mac Allister may find United to be a better option this summer than their rivals because a transfer to one of the two clubs appears likely:
“If you look at United, they’ve already won a cup, are in a cup final, and, based on appearances, will be in the Champions League. They are currently the group that can give him a little bit more. Additionally, he can join the rebuilding effort right away since it is in progress.
Considering that Mac Allister, the hero of Brighton, currently appears to be a complete midfielder, United could make a wise acquisition of him at the end of the season. With Bruno Fernandes turning 29 later this year, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are both in their 30s, and Casemiro averages 2.1 tackles per game in the league. He provides box-to-box energy, scores goals, and defends well. He could give United’s midfield a boost.
While the media praised his “absolutely outstanding” World Cup performance, Sergio Aguero praised his compatriot for being a “very intelligent” player. It simply depends on whether he has his heart set on a specific club, as United have a significant advantage over Liverpool given that they appear poised to guarantee Mac Allister Champions League participation next season. If not, he might benefit more from a move to Old Trafford.
