According to Football Insider, potential new Manchester United owner Sheikh Jassim is already planning a move to sign Jude Bellingham.
THE DETAILS: TAKEOVER CHAOS
Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe met with Old Trafford officials last week to discuss a possible takeover. The pair were set to make improved second offers for the club, with Fabrizio Romano among many journalists reporting that those bids were made ahead of the Wednesday evening deadline.
However, it has since been revealed that no new bids were made in time, and Jassim and Ratcliffe’s respective teams were given an extension.
Both parties are expected to make world-record bids in the region of £5 billion by the end of the week, with previous reports claiming that Jassim is very confident of completing a full takeover at Old Trafford. Following a new update in the last 24 hours, it appears that he is also planning a marquee transfer ahead of the summer.
THE MOST RECENT: TRANSFER UPDATE
On Thursday morning, Football Insider shared information about Jassim and United, mentioning Bellingham. They revealed that Jassim is a “huge fan” of the Borussia Dortmund midfielder and that he is planning a spectacular move to sign him.
Jassim is expected to give Erik ten Hag a large war chest during the transfer window and to go all out for the England star if a takeover is completed.
THE VERDICT: COMPLETE IT.
Ten Hag appears to have two regular starters in midfield in Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes, so Bellingham could be the missing puzzle piece.
United’s transfer priorities are thought to be a new midfielder and a forward, with Bellingham starring for both club and country this season. According to WhoScored, he has been Dortmund’s best-performing player, outperforming both Fernandes and Casemiro.
Bellingham has averaged more passes per 90 minutes than both United stars, with reporter Dr. Constantin Eckner describing him as “the perfect box-to-box player” with “no glaring weakness.”
He leads Dortmund in tackles made per game, earning him the moniker “monster” from members of the press. This season, the Englishman has also contributed four goals and four assists in the Bundesliga, and at the age of 19, you’d think he still has plenty of time to improve on his already impressive game before reaching his prime.
As a result, he could be the ideal summer signing for Ten Hag to partner Fernandes and Casemiro, so the United manager may be hoping Jassim takes over from the Glazers.
