Journalist Dean Jones has informed GiveMeSport that Marcus Rashford, Manchester United forward, is not going to sign a contract for less than £200,000-a-week. The 25-year-old’s current deal is set to expire in 18 months, and the Daily Mail has reported that the Red Devils have implemented a ‘Ronaldo rule’ to ensure no one in the dressing room is paid significantly more than their teammates. Ben Jacobs, writing for CaughtOffside, has stated that extending Rashford’s contract is a priority for United and Erik ten Hag. Arsenal are also said to be monitoring the situation in case an agreement can’t be reached. Jones has said that he has always been informed that Rashford would not sign for less than £200,000-a-week, and that the United hierarchy are likely just trying to get an agreement in place. The England international has scored 24 goals and provided nine assists in 37 appearances this season, helping the team reach the League Cup final, Europa League last 16, and FA Cup fifth round while also fighting for a top-four finish in the Premier League.
