Before making a formal offer, Manchester United wants to finish “everything on the player side” with Rasmus Hojlund, but according to transfers expert Fabrizio Romano, the deal is “absolutely on.”

Rasmus Hojlund is a Manchester United player, right?
This summer, the good news keeps coming for United supporters. The club may be turning its attention to a new number nine in the shape of Danish international, Hojlund, after concluding the £55 million deal for full-time England international Mason Mount and learning that a deal to sign Inter Milan’s Andre Onana is almost complete.

The 6 foot 3 giant, who made his Serie A debut for Atalanta last season, has already caught the eye of clubs all over Europe, including the Red Devils.

The 20-year-old striker is now the focus of Erik ten Hag’s team, who will reportedly demand a fee of about €70 million (£60 million) for him, according to The Guardian.

If the player is a priority for the three-time European champions, they may want to move quickly because Paris Saint-Germain, the French Giants and champions of Ligue 1, are also interested in signing him, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian transfer expert, however, has indicated that United are on track to submit a bid fairly soon. On his YouTube channel, he provided an explanation of the situation, saying:

“After Onana, it will be time to pay attention to the striker. I informed you that Man United never submitted an official bid for Rasmus Hojlund. They want to finish up all of the player-side work before launching an official bid against Atalanta.

Rasmus Hojlund’s price may have been realistically set at around €70 million (£60 million) during their discussions with Atalanta about the possibility of including some players in the deal.

“Let’s see when Manchester United makes the first offer. Atlanta does not currently want to involve a player in the situation. They seek a significant amount of cash.

“A deal between Hojlund and Manchester United is unquestionably on, but it is not yet in an advanced stage.”

Just how talented is Rasmus Hojlund?
If a player has only made 32 appearances in a top-five league, has there been excessive hype and excitement surrounding him?

The first thing to note is that he had a stellar debut season for Atalanta last year, making just 20 starts for the Bergamo team while contributing to two more goals and averaging a match rating of 6.67, according to WhoScored.

The player’s complete picture is painted by his supporting statistics, which demonstrate that his impressive performance is not at all accidental and that, given the chance, he would probably replicate it for a top team.

The Danish “monster” ranks in the top 1% for progressive passes received, the top 7% for touches in the penalty area of the opposition, the top 16% for non-penalty expected goals, the top 17% for successful take-ons, and the top 25% for progressive carries, all per 90. These statistics are based on players in similar positions across Europe’s top five leagues.

He has undoubtedly won over Rafael Toloi, his captain, according to GOAL, who stated:

Hojlund is a fantastic talent who is also fast and physically fit. He has everything he needs to succeed, and he’s working with the right team and coach.

Hojlund’s addition would make United one of the league’s most imposing teams, especially with Onana’s impending arrival looking more and more likely. Ten Hag might be closer than people initially believed to restoring the heyday.
