Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus could resume full training ‘within the next seven to ten days,’ according to injury expert Ben Dinnery.

The 25-year-old has been sidelined with a knee problem that he picked up during the World Cup for several months now, but he appears to be closing in on a long-awaited return to full fitness.

Gabriel Jesus has been injured for Arsenal.
Jesus had to undergo surgery following his return to north London and has been put on a recovery programme by the Arsenal medical team ever since.

Mikel Arteta provided an update on the situation of the Brazil international ahead of his team’s recent 1-0 victory over Leicester City.

“He’s making good progress,” the Spaniard said. “On the field, I’m doing more and more. “Because the knee isn’t reacting, it’s very encouraging.” We want him back as soon as possible while also adhering to the timetable provided by the doctors and specialists.”

According to Football.London, Arsenal are ‘hopeful’ that Jesus will be able to return to the pitch before the upcoming international break.

The capital club has a busy schedule ahead of the two-week break beginning March 19th, and Arteta will undoubtedly want the South American to play sooner rather than later.

What did Dinnery have to say about Jesus?
Jesus was initially expected to be out for up to three months, but Dinnery has told GMS that the versatile attacker is getting closer to a return.

“Obviously, the late February deadline will have passed,” he said. He is still not fully trained with the team, but he will participate in certain elements and aspects.

“However, we shouldn’t be too far away from seeing Gabriel Jesus fully train with the team in the next seven to ten days.”

How did Jesus perform prior to his injury?
Arsenal signed Jesus from Premier League rivals Manchester City in a £45 million deal over the summer, with the player signing a five-year contract worth £120,000 per week.

And the stocky forward made an immediate impact for his new club, scoring five goals and providing seven assists in his first 20 appearances.

In Jesus’ absence, Eddie Nketiah has stepped up admirably, but he has struggled to provide a consistent source of goals in recent weeks.

As a result, Arteta will be desperate to call on Jesus once more as he attempts to lead Arsenal to the Premier League title.
