Ilkay Gundogan, a midfielder for Manchester City, has reportedly accepted an offer from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

Ilkay Gundogan, whose contract at Manchester City expires at the end of the season, has reportedly attracted attention from Arsenal and Barcelona.

According to the article in the Spanish daily, Arsenal “made him a very strong financial offer” to the German international midfielder, who is now earning £165,000 per week (SalarySport) at City.

Champions of the Premier League City are also eager for the 32-year-old to remain at the Etihad Stadium.

The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder, though, has chosen to relocate to Barcelona, according to Sport.

According to the report, Xavi, Barcelona’s head coach, persuaded Gundogan to go to Camp Nou and has given him a three-year deal.

For Arsenal, Ilkay Gundogan is a blow.
Ilkay Gundogan, in our opinion, was not going to go for free to Arsenal.

Arsenal is a major club with a strong international reputation. This season, they strongly challenged Manchester City to win the Premier League.

Gundogan has excelled for City over the years, though, and we don’t believe he will leave the Citizens for another Premier League team.
