Journalist Charles Watts claims that with striker Folarin Balogun’s worth at an all-time high, Arsenal “could reluctantly be forced” to sell.

This summer, who will leave Arsenal?

The north Londoners must manage their budget after making high-profile acquisitions like German international Kai Havertz on the flank, Declan Rice in a £105 million move, and Jurrien Timber from Ajax.

Although outgoings are currently of utmost importance, additional signings haven’t been ruled out for this summer, with Mikel Arteta showing interest in Southampton prodigy Romeo Lavia.

Granit Xhaka’s multi-million pound transfer to Bayer Leverkusen is already complete, while Thomas Partey and Balogun are both rumoured to be on their way out.

After a brilliant season on loan at Reims, the latter player is a peculiar case. Given that his contract with Arsenal expires in two years, a number of clubs were put on high alert after the USA forward scored 21 goals in 37 Ligue 1 games the previous season.

Charles Watts, a journalist, reports on his official website that Arsenal may be forced to sell Balogun since he has little interest in returning to a previous loan and has shown no inclination to agree to new terms.

“Arsenal’s academy product scored 22 goals in all competitions in France, sending his reputation through the roof,” said Watts.

That has given him the opportunity to enter the transfer window with complete control over his next move.

“Gabriel Jesus is ahead of him at Arsenal, therefore it seems unlikely that he will be able to earn the playing time he needs with the Gunners this next season. He wants guaranteed playing time.

“As a result, Arsenal might be forced to sell the gifted frontman this summer, much to their reluctance.

“Balogun just finished a fantastic solo campaign. He just committed to serve as the face of the United States in advance of the country’s hosting of the 2026 World Cup. He still has two years left on his contract. His value is therefore quite great on the football pitch and commercially.

Folarin Balogun: How good is he?

The 22-year-old’s goal scoring record in France is just one indication of his talent; Balogun also ranks among Reims’ top performers overall and attempts more shots on goal per 90 than any other player (WhoScored).

Balogun is a player with significant potential and offensive ability, giving him a compelling option for any interested team, whether domestic or foreign, in need of a productive forward.

According to reports, Arsenal could want for much to £50 million for the frontman, whom Arteta has previously complimented for his bravery and dedication.

He is a young man, according to Arteta, who is quite clear about his career goals.

He is extremely ambitious, devoted, and courageous.

“Before he made that decision, we talked extensively about whether it was the best location for him to go and his alternative options. He truly believed it. I’m overjoyed for him because he deserves all that he is receiving.

“It’s really remarkable when you look at the figures and what he is doing. That happens extremely infrequently. But he has something unique.
