A recent rumour suggests that Manchester United’s top off-field target is now interested on a move to Old Trafford.

Man United’s ambitions under Sir Jim Ratcliffe
Sir Jim Ratcliffe is expected to purchase a quarter of the team and assume leadership of the Red Devils’ football operations. It appears that he may implement significant changes after closing the £1.3 billion acquisition. Director of football John Murtough may be the next to go from Old Trafford, but he has already chosen to replace chief executive Richard Arnold.

Murtough may be assigned a new job by Ratcliffe and INEOS if their investment is confirmed, which may happen after the winter window, despite recent reports that he is meeting to discuss possible January moves for United. According to The Daily Mail

Man Utd player disgruntled with Ten Hag is about to be fired, according to Fabrizio Romano.
A January agreement has already been approved.
As a result, it appears that Ratcliffe and company are looking to hire a new director of football. Dan Ashworth of Newcastle United is a leading candidate for the role.

Rumours have it that some at St. James’ Park are anticipating a bid from Manchester United for Ashworth and have already begun considering alternative candidates, such as Richard Hughes, a recruiting specialist for Bournemouth. In news that is encouraging for Ratcliffe, further information has now surfaced about the Red Devils and Ratcliffe.

Dan Ashworth is enthusiastic about joining Manchester United.
Ashworth is now “very keen” on accepting the post at Old Trafford, according to Football Insider writer Wayne Veysey. Man Utd is reportedly in private negotiations with Ashworth about a potential agreement.

Attracted by the offer, the 52-year-old may decide to leave Newcastle, whom he rejoined in May 2022 following his departure from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Ashworth appears to have a chance to transfer to Manchester, which Gary Neville could be happy to hear if it happens. The Red Devils great used X earlier this season to discuss a conversation he had with Ashworth before the Magpies defeated the Devils 3-0 at Old Trafford in the EFL Cup.

“Last night, I ran into Dan Ashworth while heading up to the gantry. He restructured the FA, prepared Brighton for this amazing run of success, and now laid a solid framework for Newcastle’s new owners. He is skilled, well qualified, and knowledgeable in his field.

Will cooperate intelligibly and calmly with his coach, the hiring team, and other departments. Manchester United has faced two teams with established football departments to help the squad both on and off the field in the previous two games. Everything that United is not. There is no sporting director here! I used to travel up to Newcastle and felt bad for their wonderful supporters when Mike Ashley had drained them of their vigour and excitement. Witnessing that was excruciating.

The Theatre of Dreams was transformed into the Theatre of Nothing last night. All United supporters are indifferent and uninterested. On the pitch, we witness a boss in distress, players in disbelief, and terrible performances. We’ve seen this movie before, we know how it ends, and we’re done.

As of right now, all the indications point to a transaction that will be interesting to follow in the coming year.
