Former Premier League defender Glen Johnson believes that Liverpool would be the ideal destination for Mason Mount, who is yet to agree to fresh terms with Chelsea. Johnson believes that the 24-year-old could revive his career at Anfield, and that the Reds would be eager to sign him. He also noted that no Chelsea signing has been worth the money spent since the takeover of Todd Boehly, as the club continues to struggle for form.
With Mason Mount’s contract talks with Chelsea yet to bring about a positive outcome, there is much uncertainty surrounding the future of the 24-year-old midfielder. But former Premier League defender Glen Johnson believes that Liverpool could be the perfect destination for Mount, who is looking to revive his career.

Johnson revealed that the Reds are eager to sign Mount, and that the player has the potential to reignite his career at Anfield. He is not alone in thinking this either, as reports have suggested that Jurgen Klopp views the Englishman as an ideal addition to his midfield.

Mount has been at Chelsea since the U14s and some argue he has not got the chance to reach his full potential due to the large number of high-profile signings made since the club’s takeover by Todd Boehly. Johnson concurs, noting that despite their immense spending, no player has been worth the money invested since the billionaire’s arrival.

The former defender also stated that regardless of whether Mount is with Liverpool or not, the player needs to start playing more regularly and ‘start delivering’ on a weekly basis if he is to make something of his career.

Mount may be a high profile player, but Johnson has warned that ‘the most talented players don’t always make it’, as there are many top professionals stuck in lower-level teams due to bad decisions or inadequate development.

Ultimately, it is up to the player himself to decide what is best for his career. But if the chance to join Liverpool arises, Johnson believes it could be a great move for the young midfielder.
