Christian Eriksen gave a positive update on his injury recovery following Manchester United’s Carabao Cup victory over Newcastle United. The midfielder has been out of action since suffering an ankle injury last month, and is expected to return to the pitch in late April.

However, the 31-year-old is feeling well in his recovery process and is hopeful of making an earlier comeback. He told MUTV that he has left the crutches and is now only in a boot, and next week that should be gone then he can start learning to walk again.

Eriksen has been a great addition to the Red Devils since joining on a free transfer last summer.

He has made 11 goal contributions from 31 games and his absence has been felt in the midfield.

Manager Erik ten Hag will be hoping that Eriksen will be available for the final weeks of the season, where the club could still be competing for three trophies. With the winter World Cup causing a fixture pile-up, United could be playing until the middle of June if they go all the way in the FA Cup and Europa League.
