According to commentator Frank McAvennie, Liverpool may still decide to sign Jude Bellingham during the upcoming summer transfer window.

What is currently known about Bellingham’s future?
The Borussia Dortmund midfielder’s future is currently and has been for many months a hot topic of conversation. He might leave his current team at the end of the season, and Liverpool was once thought to be the favorite to sign him.

The Reds may no longer be interested in signing Bellingham, according to a recent development this week, as the 19-year-old’s price tag is now too high to justify spending on just one player.

Undoubtedly a setback, and unless the Englishman stays at Dortmund for an additional year, he may now decide to sign with a Premier League rival.

Liverpool might still make a move for Bellingham.
Although it doesn’t appear likely right now, McAvennie told Football Insider that Liverpool could still sign Bellingham:

“Until the end of the season, it will continue to be like that. They must go get him if they want him. They require him. Despite being a great player, [Jordan] Henderson is nearing the end of his career. He will be around for years, but the midfield needs a player with speed.

“If they want him, they should go and get him without worrying about the cost. They started it by paying £80 million for [Virgil] Van Dijk, but the inflated prices are something else entirely.

“It’s a predicament that won’t go away, but if they want a player, get him. I believe he will still be speaking to them; it may just be a diversionary tactic. I’ve heard rumors that they’re still after him. They must sign him if they want to keep up with Man City.

Although Dortmund will undoubtedly have to lower their asking price, which is probably going to start at £110 million, for the move to go through, this could be a heartening claim, indicating that Liverpool’s hopes of getting their man aren’t quite dead in the water yet.

The ideal situation would see several new midfielders arrive at Anfield in Bellingham’s place this summer, such as Nicolo Barella, Alexis Mac Allister, and Mason Mount, before the Reds would sign him the following year after he had made up his mind to stay and play the 2023–24 season with Dortmund.

We’ll have to wait and see if that occurs.
