The best performance of Christian Eriksen’s career helped Manchester United defeat Nottingham Forest today.

The playmaker from Denmark made his first start following the horrific injury he sustained against xxxxx, which manager Erik ten Hag thought would end the playmaker’s season.

Even though Eriksen played against Sevilla for the final 30 minutes last week, he wasn’t at his best at Old Trafford.

But he excelled at the City Ground in a game he wasn’t even supposed to start.

Before leaving the game after 79 minutes, Eriksen recorded 80 touches and was the driving force behind everything United did well in possession.

The midfielder assumed his position as the Red Devils’ primary playmaker from deep and was responsible with the ball, completing passes with an accuracy rate of 88.7%.

In a challenging away game, he managed to keep the ball well under pressure while also being a great creator, producing three chances.

Only Bruno Fernandes, who was outstanding and deserving of the man of the match award, was able to generate five more chances.

Given United’s challenging schedule of games at the end of the season, Erik ten Hag will undoubtedly be pleased with the Dane’s performance.

Having Eriksen back is a huge boost as the team battles to advance in the Europa League and FA Cup and battles to secure automatic qualification for the Champions League via their Premier League finish as injuries mount throughout the squad.

It is easy to see the difference between Man United with and without Eriksen.

As the season comes to a close, Ten Hag will unquestionably be counting on the master of the midfield to build on this performance.
