Winger Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao has been mentioned in connection with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
SportItalia claims that Arsenal and AC Milan are vying to sign Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams during the summer transfer window.
According to the rumour in the Italian news source, Milan is eager to lure Williams to San Siro for the upcoming season and beyond.
Arsenal, though, are also considering the 20-year-old and value the winger’s Spanish national team experience.
Should Arsenal make a bid for Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams on the wing?
In our opinion, Arsenal shouldn’t hurry into a summer transfer bid for Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.
Although the 20-year-old is a very talented and promising young winger, he is still a work in progress and not yet a finished product.
The winger has been called “a rough diamond in need of polishing” and “has a lot of room for improvement” by William’s older brother, Inaki Williams, who also plays for Bilbao.
Williams would improve under Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, who has had great success with developing young players like Bukayo Saka.
To contend for the Premier League crown in the coming seasons, the Gunners, though, need proven talents today.
In the last weeks of the season, we witnessed how Manchester City fought its way to the championship.
Williams’ addition would not help Arsenal narrow the gap with City’s team, which is obviously superior than theirs.
