Arsenal and Chelsea could compete for Declan Rice this summer, but the Gunners believe they have the upper hand.

Mikel Arteta is looking to add a world-class midfielder to his squad this summer. Rice is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in Europe right now.

Despite West Ham’s struggles this season, Rice remains one of the Premier League’s most in-demand players.

Arsenal are known to be huge fans of Rice. Chelsea, on the other hand, has a long-standing interest in the England midfielder, so a bidding war is possible.

However, in an interview with GiveMeSport, Chelsea expert journalist Si Phillips claimed that Arsenal are currently leading the race for Declan Rice.

“A lot can happen in the next two months until the season ends.” That one could go either way, but Arsenal believes they are in the lead right now,” Phillips said.

“As a result, Chelsea may have to shift their focus elsewhere, which will be Lavia first and foremost.”

Rice has long been associated with Chelsea, where his best friend, Mason Mount, plays. However, with Mount’s future uncertain, Rice could be enticed by Mikel Arteta’s outfit.

Sometimes a team just needs one or two pieces to complete the puzzle, and while Arsenal’s midfield has been solid this season, Declan Rice would be the cherry on top.

The England international has been ‘outstanding’ for several seasons now, and it’s no surprise Arsenal is interested in him.

He’ll be an expensive acquisition. However, if Arsenal is fully committed to Mikel Arteta’s revolution, then adding a player of Rice’s caliber must be a top priority.
