Charlton Athletic have signed free agent Danny McNamara for his second spell at the club having been part of their academy as a youngster.

The 27-year-old defender has agreed a two-year-deal at the Valley after leaving Millwall at the end of last season.

McNamara joined the Addicks at the age of seven before leaving the club to play in non-league at 14 and eventually being picked-up by Millwall in 2015 where he went on to play 166 times and scored two goals.

McNamara is Charlton manager Nathan Jones’ fourth signing of the summer window.

“As soon as I met the manager I knew it was the right place for me, the ambitions of the club and what he wants to build are very exciting and I want to be a part of that,” McNamara told the club website.
