Ten Hag sees former City starlet as “long-term successor to Casemiro”

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, realised right away that the team’s spine needed to be improved, and the club had to spend a lot of money to secure the best players.

With their performances, Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro have established themselves as contenders for Player of the Season.

It is important to recognise the Brazilian’s contribution to the team. When he is present, the team performs at its peak; when he is absent, they have a dismal win percentage.

However, given that he is now 30 years old and that United has played the most games among teams in the top five European leagues, it is only normal for him to be showing signs of fatigue.

Casemiro’s quality replacement on ETH is nonexistent.
This has been demonstrated in recent games where United has generally struggled to maintain control. The best instances of the former Real Madrid player appearing lanky were the games against Sevilla and the disappointing draw against Tottenham.

Scott McTominay’s injury leaves the United manager with no obvious replacement on the bench, and even if he were healthy, he would not compare to the five-time Champions League victor.

Ten Hag needs to bring in a young understudy who can learn from the Brazil international while playing some games and giving the former Real Madrid player a break.

Although Moises Caicedo and Joao Palhinha are both more than capable of handling the responsibility, it is unlikely that either of them will agree to serve as a backup for the Red Devils.

Although his performances have been exceptional, it is difficult to imagine United spending so much on a midfielder when a striker is a priority. The Ecuadorian international is reportedly valued at over £70 million.

The Fulham player is currently 27 years old, and after an outstanding campaign with the London club, it is unlikely that he will want to sit and observe Casemiro.

A transfer for Romeo Lavia might be the best course of action. The Reds have already spoken with the player’s entourage about a summer move, as previously reported by The Peoples Person, and his age and price make a lot of sense.

According to Transfermarkt, the 19-year-old is valued at €25 million. While Southampton would have preferred to receive more than twice that amount for their star midfielder, their fears of being relegated may make a deal for a lower sum possible.

Lavia is viewed by ETH as the replacement.
Ten Hag, who is a fan of Lavia’s talent, thinks of him as Casemiro’s ideal long-term replacement despite his youth, according to The Independent.

The report said that Ten Hag “admires Southampton’s Romeo Lavia as a potential long-term successor to Casemiro.”

It is understandable why teams like Chelsea, Arsenal, and his old team Manchester City are interested in his services. The Belgian has participated in 30 games across all leagues, scoring one goal and providing one assist.

He has been one of the Saints’ few shining lights, and everyone has been impressed by his ability to regain control of the ball, escape pressure, and make the right pass.

Given their financial constraints, a move for Lavia might be the best option for United, and he might be the ideal addition to increase squad depth, which is currently severely lacking.
