Arsenal has reportedly been keeping an eye on Julian Brandt, a playmaker for Borussia Dortmund, according to noted writer Fabrizio Romano.

The London juggernauts are rumored to be interested in acquiring Brandt during the summer transfer window as they look to bolster their assault.

The German has long been under Arsenal’s radar, according to Romano’s CaughtOffside blog, but he is not aware of any new contacts for him.

He declared: “Arsenal has always kept tabs on Julian Brandt. At this point, I am not aware of any new contacts, which is also due to the fact that Borussia Dortmund has not made a decision about Brandt’s future. Nothing has been settled about the summer strategy yet, so new attacking additions will rely on several circumstances.

Quality
For Dortmund, the 26-year-old has been an important contributor in the final third. He has supported the striker across the attack this season, scoring 9 goals and dishing out 5 assists.

Arsenal may be interested in him in part because of his flexibility, but a summer transfer may be contingent on Dortmund’s handling of his contract issue in the coming months.

In the summer of 2024, his current contract is scheduled to end. Dortmund may have to sell him if they can’t persuade him to sign a new deal by the summer.

While Brandt would be a terrific addition to Arsenal’s roster as they strive to improve it, the German player could have to compete for a spot in the starting lineup.

When fully healthy, Arsenal’s left wing, number 10 wing, and right wing positions are regularly filled by Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard, and Bukayo Saka.

Leandro Trossard was recently given the start in a league game over Martinelli, demonstrating that manager Mikel Arteta is prepared to reward players.

If Brandt joined, he would be another another fierce rival. He is listed on Transfermarkt for £25 million, which, given that his contract expires in June 2024, is a fair price.
