According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal is expected to make a bold attempt to recruit Douglas Luiz, a midfielder for Aston Villa, during the January transfer window.
In an exclusive interview with CaughtOffside for his Daily Briefing column, Romano stated that closing the deal won’t be simple for the Gunners, but he did believe they would try to entice the Brazilian to the Emirates Stadium.
With Granit Xhaka’s departure and Thomas Partey’s ongoing injury concerns, Arsenal has struggled in the midfield this season. As a result, Luiz has plenty of opportunity to enter the game and make an effect.
Even so, Villa are succeeding under Unai Emery and won’t want to let go of such a key player in the midst of what is anticipated to be a thrilling campaign at Villa Park.
Even though it appears that this tale may end up like the Moises Caicedo saga that we witnessed in January, Romano seems to believe that Arsenal will give it their all.
“I think it’s going to be a tough one, but Douglas Luiz keeps getting linked with Arsenal before January,” Romano said.
