Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic are two of the eight senior players Chelsea could offload as part of a summer reshuffle.

The Blues’ squad grew as they splashed the cash in January, bringing in a slew of new first-team players, including Mykhailo Mudryk and Enzo Fernandez, whose €121 million move from Benfica broke the British transfer record.

The Evening Standard is reporting that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, and Edouard Mendy could all leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

Mount, Kovacic, Aubameyang, Loftus-Cheek, and Pulisic are set to become free agents at the end of the season, while Gallagher, Ziyech, and Mendy are under contract until 2025.

And there appears to be interest in two of the Blues’ apparent surplus midfielders: Mount has been linked with Liverpool and Manchester United, while Manchester City and Bayern Munich, now managed by former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, are said to be monitoring Kovacic’s situation.

Ziyech was supposed to go on loan to PSG in January, but the deal fell through after Chelsea failed to submit the necessary paperwork three times.

Ziyech’s proposed transfer to PSG fell through on deadline day.

Big names have few opportunities.
Meanwhile, Aubameyang was rumored to be on his way to MLS club LAFC on loan during the winter transfer window, but the veteran striker has stayed put to compete for his Blues spot, making only five substitute appearances this calendar year.

Loftus-Cheek has remained a regular for Graham Potter’s side, but Gallagher has not appeared since Fernandez’s arrival.

Chelsea appear to have reached an impasse in negotiations over a new contract for Mendy, who lost his starting spot to Kepa Arrizabalaga in September.
