On Sunday evening, two Chelsea players ‘liked’ an Instagram post announcing Graham Potter’s departure. Chelsea sacked Potter as first-team coach a day after their 2-0 league defeat to Aston Villa.

The 47-year-old former Brighton manager took over as manager in early September, succeeding Thomas Tuchel, and signed a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge. He was also in charge of several high-profile signings, including Enzo Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile, and Noni Madueke, to name a few.

But, with the club languishing in 11th place in the Premier League after a run of poor form, his time as manager was officially over on Sunday, when Chelsea announced that Bruno Saltor would take over on an interim basis. According to The Telegraph, players were’stunned’ after learning the news from Chelsea’s official club statement. However, some astute fans noticed a couple of players ‘liking’ Instagram posts announcing his dismissal.

Denis Zakaria, a midfielder who struggled for playing time under Potter, liked a caption from 433 that read: “BREAKING: Graham Potter has been sacked by Chelsea.” And, as shown in the screenshot below, Blues forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is said to have ‘liked’ an Instagram post confirming his departure.
