Crawley sign Charlton defender Ewens-Findlay on loan

By Staff Writer — 9 July 2026

Crawley Town have signed Charlton Athletic defender Ty Ewens-Findlay on loan for the season.

Ewens-Findlay, 19, is primarily a central defender but can play at full-back and also as a holding midfield player.

He joined the Addicks from Cambridge United last summer but has yet to make a senior appearance.

“Ty is very versatile, and can play in a variety of different roles across the defence and midfield if needed,” Crawley Town head coach Colin Kazim-Richards told the club website.

“He is very athletic and gives us a lot of ability, so we are very pleased that he is with us for the season.”

Along with his loan move Ewans-Findlay has also signed a new one-year contract with Charlton.

Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin has joined Serie A side Fiorentina on loan for the 2026-27 season.

The deal also includes an obligation for the Italian side to buy the 24-year-old if specific performance-based criteria are met.

Dragusin joined Spurs from Genoa for £25m on a six-and-a-half-year deal in January 2024 and has made 48 appearances for the club.

He struggled to recover from a serious knee injury suffered in February 2025 and only featured 11 times last season.

Eriksen to begin rehab in Denmark after collapse

By Staff Writer — 9 July 2026

Christian Eriksen will begin individual rehabilitation in Denmark after collapsing during a friendly last month.

He collapsed during a match against Ukraine in Odense in June, with the game being stopped on 65 minutes and abandoned shortly after. The 34-year-old midfielder was able to walk from the field.

The former Manchester United and Tottenham midfielder was fitted with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) - a type of pacemaker - after suffering a cardiac arrest during a Euro 2020 match against Finland in 2021.

Following last month’s incident, he said it “was a different situation from what happened in 2021” and explained his ICD “did exactly what it was designed to do: protect me when I needed it”.

He also said he was “doing well” and was at home with his family.

Eriksen plays for German side Wolfsburg, who have confirmed he will “shortly begin an individual rehabilitation programme”.

“Following discussions with VfL managing director Dieter Hecking, it was decided that the 34-year-old will complete it in his native Denmark,” the club added.

“VfL remain in regular contact with Christian and the doctors overseeing his treatment. We continue to wish Christian all the very best with his rehabilitation.”

Eriksen was unable to play for Serie A side Inter Milan after his initial cardiac arrest at the Euros because of rules in Italy prohibiting players from competing if they have ICDs, but he resumed his career with Brentford in 2022, eight months after his first on-pitch incident.

He then spent three years with Manchester United and has played for Wolfsburg since September 2025 - the Premier League and Bundesliga both allow players with an ICD to compete.

An ICD is a device about half the size of a mobile phone with thin wires leading to the area around the heart.

There are two main types of ICD.

One is fitted under the skin, usually near the armpit, and acts like a mini defibrillator.

The other type is usually fitted in the space just below the collarbone and, like a pacemaker, can also send a regular electrical signal if it detects the heart is beating too slowly.

Oscar Mingueza won the Copa del Rey while playing for Barcelona in 2021

Crystal Palace have signed Celta Vigo defender Oscar Mingueza on a free transfer, subject to international clearance.

The 27-year-old Spaniard joins Palace on a four-year contract and is new head coach Pierre Sage’s first summer signing.

Mingueza is a product of Barcelona’s La Masia academy and made 66 appearances for the club following his senior debut in 2020.

The versatile defender then joined Celta Vigo in 2022, where he scored seven goals and provided 15 assists in 147 appearances.

Mingueza said “it is an honour” to be joining Palace and added he is “really excited” to be at Selhurst Park.

He has been capped four times by Spain, however he was not included in manager Luis de la Fuente’s 26-man squad for this summer’s World Cup.

Palace chairman Steve Parish said: “We are delighted to welcome a player of Oscar’s quality and character to the club.

“His track record speaks for itself, with experience at the highest level for both club and country.

“We believe he will be a fantastic fit for Crystal Palace.”

Palace travel to Everton for their opening game of the new Premier League season on Saturday, 22 August at 15:00 BST.
