Aston Villa full-back Andres Garcia has joined La Liga side Getafe on loan for the 2026-27 campaign.
The 23-year-old has only made 18 appearances since arriving at Villa Park from Spanish club Levante in January 2025.
Garcia featured just eight times for Unai Emery’s side in 2025-26, as the Villans became Europa League winners, secured a fourth-place Premier League finish and progressed to the FA Cup fourth round.
Joao Gomes scored his only goal for Wolves last season against Aston Villa
Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes is poised to join Aston Villa in a deal worth £38m.
The Brazil international has left Wolves’ training camp in Portugal and will have a medical on Thursday.
The deal is worth an initial £34m with another £4m in add ons.
Villa need midfield reinforcements after selling Youri Tielemans to Manchester United for £35m and seeing Amadou Onana ruled out until next year with a serious knee injury he suffered with Belgium at the World Cup.
They are also close to completing the signing of Switzerland international Johan Manzambi for a club record fee of over £50m from Freiburg.
Atletico Madrid had been keen on Gomes but did not finalise a deal.
Gomes made 41 appearances for Wolves last season as they finished bottom of the Premier League.
He played 130 times for the club, scoring seven goals, after joining from Flamengo in 2023.
Sunderland full-back Timothee Pembele has joined Ligue 1 side Le Havre on a permanent deal.
The 23-year-old, who had struggled for fitness since signing from Paris St-Germain in September 2023, made just eight first-team appearances for the Black Cats.
Pembele impressed during two separate loan spells with the French club though, making 35 appearances and scoring one goal.
Burton Albion have signed goalkeeper Corey Addai from League One rivals Stockport County on a season-long loan.
The 28-year-old, who spent time on the books at Arsenal and Coventry as a youth player, has featured 68 times for Stockport across all competitions since moving to Edgeley Park from Crawley in the summer of 2024.
Addai featured in back-to-back League One play-off campaigns for the Hatters, which culminated with him playing in their Wembley defeat by Bolton Wanderers in May as they missed out on promotion to the Championship.
Burton’s sporting director Richard Dorman described Addai, who also counts Danish side Esbjerg among his former clubs, as “a top quality shot-stopper” who will be a “big presence” in the box for the Brewers.
Rocchi officiated at domestic and international level before his retirement from refereeing in 2020
Prosecutors in Milan have requested that a sports fraud case against Gianluca Rocchi, the man in charge of assigning referees in Italy’s top flight, be dismissed.
The former international referee suspended himself in April after being placed under investigation for “complicity in sporting fraud” during the 2024-25 season.
Rocchi, the National Referees Commission’s referee designator for Serie A and Serie B, has always protested his innocence.
According to Italian news agency Ansa, prosecutors concluded after a two-year inquiry that there was no evidence of match-fixing, saying they did not “identify a structured system aimed at interfering with appointments”.
It was claimed that Rocchi was behind the selection of a referee for an Inter Milan game as he was “liked by Inter”.
A video assistant referee decision not to intervene when an Inter player elbowed an opponent in another game was also under scrutiny.
The simultaneous case against Inter has been dropped as well.
Rocchi was also accused of pressuring a VAR official to encourage a referee to check on the pitchside monitor for a handball offence during Udinese’s 1-0 win over Parma in March last year.
The referee and VAR official had already decided not to award a penalty but changed their minds, it is claimed, leading to Florian Thauvin scoring the only goal of the game.
Prosecutors have now forwarded the case documents to the sports justice authorities and the Italian Olympic Committee’s General Prosecutor’s Office to assess whether any disciplinary breaches within a sporting context may have occurred.
Sporting fraud is a criminal offence in Italy and carries a maximum sentence of six years in prison.
